I have never loved the color pink. I should have known that God's sense of humor would catch up with me in a big way sooner or later.
In the summer of 2009 I was planning my wedding. I was broke. I didn't want to work at the mall or be a waitress - these jobs are great, but they just didn't fit where I was that summer. I needed something more flexible and still able to provide money for my wedding.
I did a little research on the company of Mary Kay and was impressed with what I found. I'm a very "all or nothing" type of person, so once I made the decision, I was in. In fact, I signed my agreement the very first night I tried the skin care products.
Being a consultant is so rewarding. It's certainly helped my finances, but I have found a community of women who love the Lord and work their business with integrity and compassion. I never thought I would grow to love being a Mary Kay consultant the way that I do.
A year after becoming a consultant, I started thinking about the possibility of leadership with the company. The Mary Kay opportunity is a very unique one. I now have a full understanding of how ideal it is to take full advantage of all the rewards the company offers to its leaders. I am so excited about becoming an Independent Sales Director with Mary Kay! I will be able to work full time, provide an income that helps my family AND I will have incredible flexibility as Adam and I start a family. I will be a tattooed director, but a director nonetheless. I have discovered that I can still be me, and be a "Mary Kay lady" at the same time. Oh, and I do plan on driving that Cadillac, even if it is pink. :)
The Mary Kay opportunity is not for everyone, and I understand that. I also know that at one point, I thought Mary Kay wasn't for me. If you're curious to know more about what it's like to be a consultant, don't hesitate to ask! laurasue@marykay.com
